The miles start adding up today as Caney Fork Electric Cooperative employees begin the 50 Mile Ruck March Challenge in support of veteran suicide prevention.
Spearheaded by employee and veteran Mike Brown, the monthlong effort encourages participants to complete 50 miles while supporting Stop Soldier Suicide.
A highlight of the challenge will take place Wednesday, Nov. 11, when employees and participating utility partners gather for a 10-mile Veterans Day march.
The march begins at 8 a.m. at the Newtown Substation, 47 Commodore Drive in McMinnville, and ends at the Morrison Substation, 8492 Manchester Highway. The route is expected to take three to four hours, and participants may join for all or part of it.
Weighted backpacks are optional.
