Mr. Alan J. Gross, 77, of Morrison passed away into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness. He was a native of the Hubbards Cove community of Grundy County and was born on Nov. 6, 1948 to the late Alvin and Wynnette York Gross. He was a charter member of Covenant Fellowship Church where he served faithfully. He was a devoted husband and dad to his children and grandchildren, and was a veteran in the Vietnam War.

Prior to his illness, he had been a strong man who loved the outdoors. In his young life, he was a logger, until the death of his father when he became a bulldozer operator. According to his customers, he was the best. In his later years, he enjoyed driving a truck for Randall Walker Farms. He always loved to watch his grandchildren play sports or any activities. He was their biggest cheerleader.

Alan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pamela Smith Gross, son Bradley Gross of McMinnville and daughter Kresta Jacobs of Spencer. Grandchildren Kelsey (Nathan) McAlexander of Murfreesboro, Brady Gross, Kaylen Jacobs, Shelbe Gross (Kyler Robinson) all of McMinnville, Anna Kate Moody and Micah Bates of Spencer. He was excited to welcome his first great-grandchild Annie James McAlexander of Murfreesboro, due at the end of this month. Several cousins also survive. He had many special friends from the Morrison area, and Covenant Fellowship Church.

The family wishes to thank Danielle Seal, nurses and techs from NHC, especially Tabi, Bethany, and Deana, nurses and techs at Riverpark Hospital, everyone from Adoration Home Health, and nurses and techs from Gentiva Hospice. We pay a special thank you to our gracious church family.
