Arrest Made in Convenience Store Burglary, One Suspect Still At Large

CCSO INVESTIGATORS MAKE ARREST ON CONVENIENT STORE BURGLARY, ONE SUSPECT REMAINS AT LARGE

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN — Investigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office have successfully identified and charged two suspects in connection with a recent burglary at a local business, though law enforcement is still seeking the public's assistance in locating one of the men involved.

On May 23, 2026, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office deputies and investigators responded to Jimmy's Market gas station, located at 2949 Westel  Road, following reports of a break-in. Upon arrival, it was discovered that during the early morning hours, two masked male suspects shattered  the establishment's front window to gain entry. Once inside, the suspects utilized large trash cans to quickly hoard a substantial quantity of merchandise, filling them to the brim with cartons of cigarettes and various vaping equipment before fleeing the scene.

CCSO Investigators immediately secured and reviewed the store's surveillance footage and were able to piece the case together and identify the two suspects. As the investigation progressed, investigators coordinated with neighboring jurisdictions and with the assistance of the Roane County Sheriff's Office, a search warrant was executed on a camper belonging to one of the suspects, located on Old Harriman Highway.

Following the evidence uncovered during the investigation and the search, warrants were formally issued. Arrested and charged in connection with the crime is Nathan Bradley Welch, age 43, of Oliver Springs, TN. Investigators have also charged Donald Wayne Roberts, also of Oliver Springs, TN. Both individuals face charges of Burglary, Theft of Property over $2,500, and Felony Vandalism. Welch has been released from the Cumberland County Jail on a $24,000.00 bond awaiting an August 24, 2026 court date. Donald Wayne Roberts, age 59, remains at large.
