McMinnville resident and Bledsoe County native Avery Lee Knight, 83, was born April 16, 1942 and died March 31, 2026 at his residence following a brief illness.
A retired machinist with Avco/Textron and member of First Freewill Baptist, he was the son of the late Lether and Edith Knight. He was married to Sue Knight on April 15, 1961 who, preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sister, Bernice Bice and brother, Millard Womack.
Mr. Knight is survived by children, Kenny (Tami) Knight and Timmy (Sherry) Knight, both of McMinnville; grandchildren, Kenneth Matthew (Estella) Knight of McMinnville, Heather (Kristin) Flores of Coffee County and Brayden Kole Knight and Nickolas Dutra, both of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Rylan Delong, Elizabeth Knowles and Hannah Knowles; great-great-grandchild, Finnley Delong; special nieces, Sue Bice, Glenda (Nora) Bice, Sheila (Kevin) Davis, Trish Pelfrey and Kaye Hayes; several great-nieces and their children and nephew, Henry Bice.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Keith Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
