Calvin Dale, 92, former resident of McMinnville and current resident of Brentwood, passed away peacefully at his home on June 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Molina, Tenn., and is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Martin Dale and Thelma Mae Rowell Dale; brothers Martin Dale and Joe Dale; and sisters, Cathy Dale, Elizabeth Boaz and Mary Ann Wallace. Mr. Dale was a member of the Brentwood United Methodist Church in Brentwood.
Mr. Dale labored faithfully for 47 years in store management and corporate purchasing positions with the H.G. Hill Food Stores Company in the Greater Nashville, Brentwood, McMinnville and Fayetteville communities over his illustrious career. Mr. Dale also served with distinction in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and served in personnel training capacities in Europe in the post Korean War era.
He was especially recognized for his contributions to the Greater Nashville and Middle Tennessee area grocery industry for his superb professionalism and was beloved by employees and customers alike for his wit, gentle management style and superb customer service to all who encountered him. Mr. Dale was recognized numerous times for his community service with the McMinnville Jaycees Club and Brentwood Rotary International Club and was presented the honor of becoming a Paul Harris Fellow in 1984. Above all, Mr. Dale was a devoted Christian who quietly walked out his faith, serving his Savior, Jesus Christ, with deep humility and gratitude while consistently treating his neighbor as himself and giving generously to those in need.
Mr. Dale is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanette (Cunningham) Dale; daughter, Lori (Todd) Patterson of McMinnville, son, Jeff (Julie) Dale of Brentwood; son, Matthew (Mandy) Dale of Spring Hill; sister, Nancy (Alex) Hopkins of Mount Juliet; brother, Jimmy (Fran) Dale of Centre, Ala.; brother, Allen Dale of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Lauren (John) Dunahoo of Murfreesboro; Brett (Abby) Patterson of Oxford, Miss.; Sarah (Hunter) Hayes of Smyrna; Andrew Dale of Brentwood; Mackinnon Dale of Springhill; and Mayer Dale of Springhill; and six beautiful great grandchildren.
Our family extends our deepest gratitude to Na’Cosha Nelson, Taylor McCain, Julie Ray, and Faith Crawford, whose loving and dedicated care comforted our father through his final days.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from noon until 3 p.m. at the Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, with funeral services immediately following at 3 p.m. in the Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Chapel.
