
· Aviation Appreciation Day will be held Saturday, June 21, with activities from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Warren County Veterans Memorial Airport. The event begins with the EAA Chapter 1700 pancake breakfast, followed by the appreciation ceremony and Young Eagles flights for kids ages 8-17. Young Eagles participants must preregister online to participate. Visitors will be allowed to walk through the hangar areas to view aircraft based at the airport; view other static displays of business aircraft, emergency equipment, Angel Flight aircraft and fly-by aircraft in the flight pattern.
· A benefit car wash for the homeless will be held Saturday, June 21, at First United Methodist Church. If weather doesn’t allow the car wash to proceed, a make-up date is set for June 28. Advance tickets for the car wash are $10, or available for $15 on the day of the event.
· Isha will host Yoga Fest on Saturday, June 21, to celebrate International Day of Yoga. Visitors are invited to enjoy free guided meditation, family-friendly games, forest hikes, vegetarian meals with a cooking demo and live country music from Cody Joe Hodges. The event is free and open to all at the Isha Institute of Inner Sciences, located at 951 Isha Lane in McMinnville. RSVP at isha.us/yogafest.
· The Warren County Genealogical and Historical Society’s monthly meeting will be held Saturday, June 21, from 2-4 p.m. at the Warren County Administration Building at 201 Locust St. The WCGHS meets the third Saturday of each month, offering a different program or speaker. Follow the society on its Facebook page for more information.
· The Agee Family will be performing at New Union The Baptist Church, located at 360 Church Rd. in Smithville, on Sunday, June 22, at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend for great singing, fellowship and worship.
· North Warren Church of Christ will host a gospel meeting with evangelist Lee Adair at 472 Parkhurst Rd. in McMinnville beginning Sunday, June 22, with services at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The meeting continues with services at 7 p.m. each night through June 29. A potluck lunch will be served between Sunday’s services.
· Blood Assurance will have a blood drive Thursday, June 26, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Main Street Media, located at 230 W. Colville St. in McMinnville. Donors are encouraged to eat a good meal beforehand, drink plenty of water, and avoid energy drinks.
· A Rural Overdose Prevention Training seminar will be held Thursday, June 26, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Park Theater. The seminar will focus on overdose recognition and response, Narcan education and training and anti-stigma training.
· Heavenly Closet Thrift Store is open Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 100 Market Street, adjacent to the Farmer’s Market. The organization’s soup kitchen is open Mondays and Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. until noon each day, at 218 E. Main St. Proceeds from the thrift store fund the soup kitchen’s efforts. Volunteers and donations are always accepted. The group is part of the “Helping Hands” ministry.
· Main Street Live!, the local concert series sponsored by Main Street McMinnville, will host a Battle of the Bands Friday, June 27 at 7 p.m. The series provides free concerts on the west lawn of Security Federal throughout June and July, with vendors opening at 6 p.m. before the show begins. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
· A free car wash, compliments of General Sessions Judge Ryan J. Moore to provide community service hours for juveniles, will be held Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m. until noon in the parking lot of the Warren County Administration Building at 201 Locust St. Anyone needing their dirty car cleaned is encouraged to attend.
· Iglesia La Casa del Senor (House of the Lord) church will hold a lunch fundraiser to help with maintenance of the church building Friday, June 27, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A donation of $12 is suggested per meal. To order, call Pastor Marieli Hernandez at 931-928-0017.
· Highlands Elite Real Estate will have an Ice Cream Day Friday, July 18, from 2-4 p.m. at 477 N. Chancery St. in McMinnville. Ice cream will be provided by Baskin-Robbins of Cookeville and Algood, and the first 100 visitors will receive a free scoop.
