The final week of the regular season packed every bit of emotion and intensity you’d expect from a league that has been tight from top to bottom since November. Centertown closed out a championship run, Morrison delivered the upset that shook the standings, Dibrell battled through pressure with a target on its back and the three-way tie beneath the top three produced the wildest tiebreaker scenario of the year. With the postseason now here, these final games showcased players stepping into big roles, carrying their teams in defining moments and setting the tone for what should be a thrilling tournament run.

The Main Street Journal Players of the Week are presented by Kevin Rhoton at SouthPoint Risk, Cole Taylor Lawn Care, M&M Farms, McCorkle Landscaping and Crisp Springs Fireworks.

Here are the honorees from Jan. 12-15, the final regular season week of the 6-8 grade county basketball season.

BOYD – JUSTIN SPRY

Spry turned in one of the week’s top individual performances, pouring in 27 points against Irving College and nearly willing the Broncos to a comeback win. He attacked the rim relentlessly, hit tough pull-up shots and once again led Boyd in scoring as the Broncos battle-tested themselves heading into the postseason.

CENTERTOWN – WAYLON DUGGIN

Duggin delivered on the biggest night of the season, scoring 13 points to help Centertown secure the regular-season title with a convincing win at Eastside. His early scoring sparked the Warriors’ first-half separation and his steady guard play anchored a team that finished 9-1 and earned the tournament’s top seed.

DIBRELL – KENDAL WOMACK

Womack set the tone in the Wildcats’ win at Irving College, powering his way to 18 points and scoring 16 before halftime to steady Dibrell on a night when it needed stability with one starter unavailable. His scoring, pace and pressure kept the Wildcats in position to finish 8-2 and earn the No. 2 seed.

EASTSIDE – KELTON HOLT

Holt provided a bright spot for the Bulldogs during a tough matchup with Centertown, scoring eight points and competing on both ends in a game where Eastside needed a physical spark. His scoring versatility and willingness to drive into contact continue to anchor the Bulldogs as they enter a difficult quarterfinal.

IRVING COLLEGE – ALLEN SNIDER

Snider delivered one of his strongest all-around games of the season in Irving College’s win over Boyd, scoring 12 points while spacing the floor and defending multiple positions. His confidence as a spot-up shooter and toughness on the defensive end helped the Tigers secure a crucial victory on the final night of the regular season.

MORRISON – COOPER MURPHY

Murphy shined brightest in the biggest upset of the week, scoring 15 points to lead Morrison past Dibrell and knock the Wildcats out of a potential first-place tie. His fourth-quarter shotmaking and control of the offense turned the Eagles into one of the most dangerous teams heading into the postseason.
