The 2025 Warren County 6–8 grade girls basketball regular season tipped off this week with the same intensity and excitement that carried through the preseason tournament. Centertown picked up where it left off with two dominant wins, Irving College matched them shot for shot to stay unbeaten and Morrison bounced back with a big road victory. Dibrell showed depth and balance in its opener, Boyd got key sparks from its young core and Eastside continued to find its footing behind a gritty group that refuses to back down.
Across the county, Week 1 delivered breakout performances from new contributors and rising stars. These early-season battles are already shaping the identity of each team and giving a glimpse of the talent that will define the months ahead.
The Main Street Journal is proud to honor the standouts from opening week with our Girls Players of the Week, made possible by our great sponsors: Triple B Nursery, Crisp Springs Market, Prince HVAC, TEH Construction, Pioneer Lanes and Sara Collins with Tree City Realty.

CENTERTOWN – ANSLEY PEPPER
Pepper thrived as the Lady Warriors’ steady scoring threat in Week 1, posting 9 points against Boyd and a team-high 12 against Dibrell. While defenses keyed on Willa Denning, Pepper punished every gap, attacked confidently in transition and gave Centertown the balance that makes its offense nearly impossible to guard. Her consistency was the perfect complement to another dominant week for the champs.

IRVING COLLEGE – KATELYN KIGHT
Kight backed up her strong preseason with a sharp, composed opening week. She dropped 7 in a hard-fought win over Morrison and followed with 10 more on the road at Eastside, showing her ability to score in tight games and blowouts alike. Her steady presence beside Yates gives Irving College one of the league’s most reliable duos as the Lady Tigers prepare for their showdown with Centertown.

MORRISON – ADDISON ALLEN
Allen delivered one of the biggest performances of the week, scoring 15 points — including two fourth-quarter triples — to push the Lady Eagles past Boyd. She added 6 more in Monday’s defensive battle at Irving College. Her shot-making, especially late, flipped the script from the preseason and helped Morrison reestablish itself as a threat in the standings.

DIBRELL – ANNISTON PAGE
Page powered the Lady Wildcats to a strong Week 1 start, scoring 9 in a win over Eastside and following with a team-high 6 against Centertown. She attacked confidently, finished through contact and gave Dibrell the spark it needed to move to 1-1. Her emergence as a go-to scorer is one of the most encouraging developments for a Wildcats team loaded with young talent.

BOYD – MONI HARRIS
Harris made her presence felt all week as the Lady Broncos’ tall, talented post who battled inside against two of the league’s toughest frontcourts. She scored in both games, anchored Boyd’s interior defense and was a key part of the third-quarter surge Thursday when the Lady Broncos briefly cut into Morrison’s lead. Her rebounding, rim protection and steady paint scoring gave Boyd the physical edge it needed to stay competitive through Week 1.

EASTSIDE – ELIZABETH GRISSOM
Grissom was Eastside’s most dependable contributor in Week 1, scoring 6 against Irving College and adding 2 more in Monday’s game at Dibrell. She battled on the boards, handled pressure and provided the scoring punch Eastside needed to stay competitive. Her effort and leadership remain central to the Lady Bulldogs’ identity.
