The final week of the girls 6–8 grade regular season delivered everything a county league could hope for — a perfect champion finishing the job, a playoff race that went all the way to a coin flip, a thriller decided in the final minute and several stars saving their best work for the stretch run. With Centertown closing out a 10–0 season, Irving College and Boyd battling in a one-point classic and Morrison hitting its stride at the perfect time, the regular season wrapped with momentum surging into a wide-open postseason.
As always, the Main Street Journal is proud to spotlight the standouts who helped shape the final chapter of the regular season. This week’s honors are made possible thanks to our incredible sponsors — Triple B Nursery, Crisp Springs Market, Prince HVAC, TEH Construction, Pioneer Lanes and Sara Collins with Tree City Realty.
Here are your Girls Players of the Week for Jan. 12–15:

BOYD – SKY WRIGHT
Wright brought energy, pace and timely scoring in one of Boyd’s most competitive games of the season, contributing five points in the near-upset against Irving College. She attacked gaps, played confidently in transition and provided the type of spark that kept the Lady Broncos in control for much of the night. Wright’s all-around effort was a major part of Boyd pushing the No. 2 seed to the wire.

CENTERTOWN – ANSLEY PEPPER
Pepper’s steady brilliance once again separated Centertown from the pack. She scored 12 points in the Lady Warriors’ season-ending win over Eastside, serving as the perfect complement to Denning and Medley while helping Centertown finish an undefeated 10–0 regular season. Smart, efficient and composed, Pepper remains one of the constants behind the program’s long winning streak.

DIBRELL – ARI HAYES
Hayes earned her spot by stepping up when Dibrell needed composure and toughness in the season’s final stretch. Her defensive work and willingness to battle for every loose ball were essential in keeping the Lady Wildcats competitive against deeper opponents. Hayes’ effort and intensity stood out in a week where Dibrell relied on grit to stay in games.

EASTSIDE – IZZY LUSK
Lusk delivered one of Eastside’s strongest performances of the season, scoring five points against an elite Centertown defense and providing steady offensive production throughout the week. She stayed aggressive, attacked lanes and gave Eastside a scorer who kept pushing the tempo even against challenging matchups.

IRVING COLLEGE – JOSIE HERTWIG
Hertwig played one of her best games of the season when it mattered most, scoring seven points when Irving College defeated Dibrell last week to help seal up the No. 2 seed. As defenses continue to key on Maebry Yates, Hertwig’s ability to deliver crucial buckets and be a calming presence will be an important help as all games now are full of tension.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this writeup referred to Hertwig’s big night coming against Boyd. We apologize for the error.

MORRISON – LILY JORDAN
Jordan’s effort was a major part of Morrison’s dominant 35–8 victory over Dibrell in the regular-season finale. She scored, rebounded and defended with purpose, helping fuel a Lady Eagle team that looks more dangerous each time it takes the court. Jordan’s activity and toughness around the rim stood out during Morrison’s late-season surge.
