Crossville voters face a municipal referendum on whether to authorize the City Council to transfer key water infrastructure, including acreage around Meadow Park Lake dam, the water treatment plant, and Holiday Lake easements, to the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority.
Supporters argue regionalization improves eligibility for grants, and shares the burden of necessary upgrades.
Opponents contend the city should preserve direct control over ratepayer-funded assets rather than risk subsidizing regional costs with less local oversight.
A “yes” vote grants the council authority to proceed with the transfer if determined to be in the city’s best interest, while a “no” vote retains full municipal ownership and management.
Early voting begins October 14th and runs through October 29th.
