Eastside Elementary School marked Veterans Day with a celebration of those who have served their country. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, the event included a slideshow honoring veterans both passed and surviving.
Students dressed the part of influential Americans and visitors were on hand to honor attending veterans who were each individually recognized.
“We work to make this assembly, which is usually our biggest of the year, very memorable,” Eastside teacher Jason Gann said. “A new feature this year is that one of our school board members, Matthew Brown, and the guest speaker, Ken Collins, were presented Quilts of Valor for their service.”
The program featured guest speaker Collins, who served distinguishably in the U.S. Army, and was brought to a close by the entire student body singing “Stand By Me.”
The program can be viewed on the WCS TV YouTube page.
