The first half of the 3–5 grade girls basketball season has already delivered plenty of excitement, and the second half promises even more. As most teams reach the midpoint of their schedules, the standings are starting to take shape - Boyd and Hickory Creek continue to lead the way as the league’s only unbeatens, while Dibrell and Centertown are battling for position in District 2. Eastside’s breakthrough win and Morrison’s recent improvements have tightened things up across the board, setting the stage for an exciting stretch run.
The coming weeks feature several key matchups that could shake up the playoff picture, including a pair of late-October showdowns between Boyd and Hickory Creek that already have fans buzzing. With momentum building and teams starting to find their identity, the race for the first county championship is heating up.

Here are this week’s honorees in the girls’ league for their season contributions to their squads:
Skylyn Wright – Boyd Lady Broncos
Wright’s consistency continues to shine for the unbeaten Lady Broncos. Her ability to score from anywhere on the floor and set the tone defensively makes her one of the league’s most complete players despite being just a fourth grader.
Boyd was the only team in action this week and Wright helped fuel wins for the Lady Broncos over two Cannon County elementary programs and the Upper Cumberland Rams Thursday night.

Candy Potter – Centertown Lady Warriors
Potter has been a reliable spark plug for Centertown, mixing toughness inside with smart play around the rim. Her scoring touch and rebounding presence have helped the Lady Warriors stay among the top contenders in District 2 each week.

Anna Kate Bryant – Dibrell Lady Wildcats
Bryant has been a model of consistency all season, scoring in every game and giving the Lady Wildcats excellent guard play as they've moved to the top of the standings in District 2. Bryant has been an engine for a dynamic defense for Dibrell while also working as one of the team's lead guards and leading scorers.

Emery Hankal – Eastside Lady Bulldogs
Hankal continues to grow in confidence for Eastside, giving the Lady Bulldogs energy and effort on both ends. Her scoring touch has been a boost, and her defensive hustle has become a key part of Eastside’s improvement over the last few weeks and hope for a strong finish in District 2 after fall break.

Daelyn Roland – Hickory Creek Lady Hawks
Roland has been a key piece of Hickory Creek’s dominant 4-0 start that features four 30-plus point wins. She's consistently filling up the stat sheet alongside the team’s top scorers, making her mark as the league's fifth leading scorer. Her speed and length help the Lady Hawks live in transition on offense and pressure the ball defensively.

Sophia Stubblefield – Irving College Lady Tigers
Stubblefield continues to provide leadership for the Lady Tigers, doing all the little things that don’t always show up in the box score. Her effort, defense and willingness to step up every night give Irving College a steadying presence as the team keeps grinding for its first win.

Ellesyn Waldron – Morrison Lady Eagles
A force in the middle of their zone defense and budding scorer on the block, Waldron has become one of Morrison’s most reliable contributors. Whether it’s hitting timely shots or ripping down rebounds, she’s been instrumental in keeping the Lady Eagles competitive.

Kimberly Fuentez – West Lady Wizards
Fuentez has given West valuable minutes this season, knocking down shots and providing defensive toughness against some of the league’s top offenses. She’s becoming a steady contributor for the Lady Wizards as they look to stay competitive down the stretch.
