Two weeks into the revamped 3–5 grade elementary basketball league and Warren County gyms are already buzzing with energy. The girls’ side has been nothing short of spectacular, with a handful of teams racing out to unbeaten starts and delivering lopsided victories that have fans talking about who might emerge as the frontrunner for the title. Defenses have been stifling, offenses have been explosive and the atmosphere inside every gym has captured what makes elementary basketball such a special part of the community.

While the competition has been fierce, what stands out most is the excitement. Every night has brought new storylines - from teams putting together historic defensive efforts to others rolling out balanced attacks that leave opponents scrambling. The season is young, but it’s already clear that the battle for the first 3–5 grade girls’ championship will be one to remember.

Along the way, there have been some standout performances that deserve recognition, and the Main Street Journal is proud to celebrate the kids who are shining brightest on the hardwood. Each Saturday throughout the season, we’ll be naming a Player of the Week in girls’ basketball — a new tradition made possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors: \W/ Services Excavating & Land Management, Kevin Rhoton with SouthPoint Risk, Cole Taylor Lawn Care, Prince HVAC, Rodriguez Shed Hauling, Moore Automotive Sales, Crisp Springs Fireworks, Family Care Clinic and Parkhurst Restoration.

We are still looking for a Player of the Week sponsor for the Dibrell Lady Wildcats - Thanks to Prince HVAC for taking on an extra sponsorship for this week! If you'd like to be a sponsor, please email jeff.simmons@mainstreetmedia.llc.

The stage is set, the lights are bright, and elementary basketball is back in Warren County. Here are the Players of the Week in the girls league from Sept. 15-25:

Nyla Millraney – Bobby Ray Lady Stars

It’s been tough sledding for Bobby Ray, but Millraney's constant hustle, defensive play and ability to put the ball in the basket has made her a star for the Lady Stars through the first two weeks of the regular season.

Mia Prater – Boyd Lady Broncos

The Lady Broncos have been dominant in the season’s opening weeks, and Prater’s consistency has been a huge factor. She has shown she can score in bunches, with a season-high 16 points against Bobby Ray, while also contributing on defense and in transition. In a lineup full of scoring options, Prater has stood out for her ability to stay composed, finish around the rim and create opportunities for teammates. She’s proving to be one of the league’s most complete players.

Vivianne Douglas – Centertown Lady Warriors

Douglas has been Centertown’s steady hand in the backcourt, chipping in scoring in every game and hitting key buckets in big moments. Whether it’s slashing through defenses or knocking down open looks, she provides balance to Centertown’s attack. In the Lady Warriors’ big win over Bobby Ray, Douglas dropped six points while also leading a strong defensive effort. Her all-around play has helped Centertown climb to 3-1 and position itself as a real threat in District 2.

Kinslee Rutledge – Dibrell Lady Wildcats

Rutledge has been one of the breakout stars of the early season, powering the Lady Wildcats with her scoring touch and helping her team end Centertown’s three-year run atop elementary basketball. She’s already delivered double-digit efforts multiple times, including a 17-point explosion against Morrison. Her ability to score inside and outside makes her a matchup nightmare, and she’s been the player Dibrell can rely on when it needs a bucket.

Mia Rodriguez – Eastside Lady Bulldogs

Rodriguez has emerged as Eastside’s most dependable scorer, finding ways to get buckets even when defenses swarm her. She scored three against Centertown and has added points in other matchups, showing her resilience in tough situations. Though Eastside is still searching for its first win, Rodriguez’s fight and willingness to shoulder the offensive load have been vital. Her scoring gives the Lady Bulldogs a foundation to build on, and her determination sets an example for the rest of the squad.

Karah Fish – Hickory Creek Lady Hawks

Fish has been a force in the paint for the Lady Hawks, giving them a reliable scoring option inside during their dominant 3-0 start. She poured in 13 points in the shutout win over Irving College and added six more against Eastside, showing she can control the game from her point-guard position. She’s a lethal defender, helping the Lady Hawks record a pair of shutouts this week and emerge as one of the most balanced and dangerous teams in the league.

Hadlee Green – Irving College Lady Tigers

Green gave the Lady Tigers a lift in their matchup with Morrison, scoring two points and showing she can make plays under pressure. While Irving College is still searching for its first win, Green’s contributions represent the fight and determination the Tigers bring each night. Her effort on both ends of the court stands out for a young squad.

Kinslee Jones – Morrison Lady Eagles

Jones has been the go-to scorer for the Lady Eagles, showing toughness and consistency in a challenging early schedule. She scored 10 points against Dibrell and added six more in Morrison’s first win over Irving College. As one of the tallest guards in the league, Jones has the advantage of being able to see over defenses to find open teammates or fire her jumper over even the best defenders.

Ariana Aguilar – West Elementary Lady Wizards

Aguilar has been nothing short of electric for the Lady Wizards. She set the league on fire in the opening week with a 27-point performance and has continued to score at a high clip. Her quickness and shooting ability make her a constant threat, and she’s shown she can carry her team’s offense when needed. West has leaned on her production to get out to a strong start, and Aguilar is proving to be one of the most dangerous players in the league.
