McMinnville resident and Smith County native Joyce Slatton, 79, was born Aug. 19, 1947 and died Aug. 31, 2026 at her residence.
A former employee of ACME Boot Company in Cookeville and a member of the First Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Sally Francis Thompson Farley. She was married to Robert Stanley Slatton who preceded her in death in 2006. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Michael and Danny Farley and sister, Barbara Rodgers.
Mrs. Slatton is survived by daughter, Sandra (John) Gilbert of Sparta; granddaughter, Sara Faith (Auston) Glenn of Walling; great-granddaughter, Harper Grace; brother, Andrew Scott (Julie) Farley of Carthage and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at noon. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Jason Nunley and Danial Farley officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
Joyce was lovingly known as the soap lady at the Warren County fair village.
