Morrison resident and Spring Valley, Ohio native Karen Ann Carroll, 81, was born March 25, 1944 and died Feb. 8, 2026 at Autumn Oaks Assisted Living in Manchester following an extended illness.
Karen, the oldest of eleven children, was raised on a farm in the Spring Valley, Ohio community. She moved to Morrison in 1970, where she raised four children. Karen attained her associate's degree from Motlow State Community College and received her Registered Nursing certificate in 1977, graduating first in her class. Karen was a devoted and caring nurse until her retirement in 2009. Karen loved her family, and her house was the hub of many family gatherings throughout the years. She loved gardening, poetry, and music. She was a source of strength and inspiration for her family and friends, and will be deeply missed.
A member of the Catholic Faith, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Marjorie Bretney Kyne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde E. "Jack" Jacobs; second husband, Lynn Carroll; daughter, Beth Woodlee; grandson, Zack Hendrix; siblings, Tom Kyne, James Kyne and Libby Bratcher.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Christin) Jacobs of Manchester; Jennifer Jacobs of Belfast, N. Ireland and Joan Hendrix of Morrison; grandchildren, Desmond Bradley, Samantha (Ben) Ferrell, Luke Woodlee, Shawn Woodlee, Jackson Jacobs, Caroline (Dillon) Myers and Claire Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Kirra Ferrell, Kenzi Ferrell, Serenity Woodlee, Alex Simmonds, Kylie Hendrix and Walker Myers; siblings, Becky (Clay) Engle, John (Joyce) Kyne, David (Debbie) Kyne, Molly Kyne, Mary-Lou Daugherty, Jane (Paul) Martin and Chris (Lisa) Kyne.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026 in High's Chapel with Eric Bonner officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
