The Warren County Agriculture & Livestock Fair is fast approaching. The event, running Sept. 5 -13 is an annual highlight for children across Warren County. But not all children have an equal opportunity to enjoy the fair. That's where Kids of the Community steps in to help make things more fair.

Kids of the Community is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving at-risk children in the area by helping them feel valued, supported and recognized. To help achieve that goal, KOTC holds an annual Fair Day on the second Friday of the fair when Warren County schools are closed. This year that day will be Friday, Sept. 12.

"We have 130 kids eligible to attend our Fair Day event this year," KOTC program coordinator Brenda Jantes said. "For many of our kids, this is their only chance to experience the fair, so we work hard to make it possible. We want our kids to be able to enjoy the same experiences as other children around them and not feel left out."

To make this day a success, KOTC needs the support of the community. The group is appreciative of those who have already stepped up, and are inviting others to help, whether by donating money or time.

"We’re very fortunate to have several individuals from Bridgestone and other community members join us for the day," Jantes said. "Volunteers are paired with small groups of kids. Each child will receive an armband for rides ($20), lunch with cotton candy ($15), and money for games ($15) for a total of $50. We are looking for individuals who are willing to help sponsor a kid. All donations can be made through Venmo @KidsoftheCommunity, by cash or by check. Our mailing address is 681 Cadillac Ln, McMinnville, TN 37110."
