McMinnville, TN resident and Camden, Tenn. native Lester Karmon Cowell, 90, was born Nov. 12, 1935 and died July 24, 2026 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following an extended illness.
A United States Army veteran, retired Vice President with First National Bank and member of Christ Chapel Non-Denominational Church, he was the son of the late James Lester and Mildred Louise Pafford Cowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, E. Lamar and Jerry P. Cowell.
Mr. Cowell was married to Suzy Cowell of McMinnville on April 12, 1957. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Jace (Sheila) Cowell of Crossville, Jed (Mary) Cowell of Columbus, Ind. and Jana (Ross) Sparboe and Jileen (Lindsay) McGregor, both of McMinnville; eight grandchildren, Brian and James Cowell, Hannah (Jacob) Hudson, Kelly Cowell, Kasi (Jimmy) Stoflett, Salem McGregor, Dakota McGregor and Keeper Hendrix; step-grandchild, Cody Roof and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026 in High’s Chapel. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 1 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at High’s.
Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
