Get ready to swing for a cause where every drive helps someone see a little more clearly.

The 14th annual Lions Club Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at Willowbrook Golf Course, blending friendly competition with a powerful purpose: supporting the Lions Club’s year-round charitable work, from vision care and youth programs to local community service.

The two-man scramble, dedicated to the memory of Past Council Chair Bob Davenport, is the largest fundraiser of the year for the local club. Lunch will be provided at noon, with golfers teeing off at 1 p.m. The cost per player is $100, which includes the meal, two mulligans and two red tees.

The Lions Club is a service organization devoted to local, national and world service, following the organization’s motto, “We Serve.” In Warren County, the Lions chapter purchases eyeglasses and hearing aids for those in need, and examines eyes for all children entering school in the county at Pre-K and Kindergarten screenings. Lions’ efforts also provide books for PreK and Kindergarten graduates, as well as awards for citizenship and reading. They partner with Centertown Elementary School, which features a Leo Club – a youth version of the organization geared toward seventh- and eighth-grade students which meets regularly and completes its own service projects.

The Lions also support the Tennessee School for the Blind and the Tennessee School for the Deaf, the local “Fire Pup” program, and are involved in several projects bringing awareness to diabetes, the No. 1 cause of preventable blindness in the United States.

All monies Lions raise from the public are required to be spent on the public. Day-to-day operations and expenses come solely from donations and member dues, which are $22.50 per quarter. only $22.50 per quarter.  Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
