Mildred Rebecca Hobbs Gross, 98

McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Mildred Rebecca Hobbs Gross, 98, was born July 30, 1927 and died April 12, 2026 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness.  

A retired employee of Genesco and member of the Church of Christ at Northcutt Cove, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Ethel Smartt Hobbs. She was married Jan. 26, 1946 to Ralph Earl Gross, who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by  a brother, Lloyd Hobbs;  sister, Lottie Smartt;  niece, Sharon Diane (Gary Douglas) Campbell and great-nephew, Kyle Douglas Campbell.

Mrs. Gross is survived by one niece, Carolyn Joan (Ray) Braswell of McMinnville;  two great-nieces, Melody (Jon) Curtis of McMinnville and Megan Braswell;  two great-great-nieces, Natalie Lovell and Adrianna Braswell;  great-great-nephew, Skylar Braswell;  several other nieces and nephews;  brother-in-law, Winton Gross of Crossville and special friend, Babs Boyd.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026 in High's Chapel with Wayne Cantrell and Rickey Magness officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at High's.
