Downtown Sparta’s growing food scene has found one of its steady anchors inside Happy Trails Brewing Co., where Trailhead Grub has quietly built a loyal following through scratch-made comfort food, rotating specials and a laid-back atmosphere that blends naturally with the city’s outdoor culture.

Owned and operated by Mitch Buckner since 2021, the family-run restaurant inside the brewery has expanded far beyond a traditional pub-style menu. From handcrafted burgers and comfort food favorites to desserts, milkshakes and smoothies, Trailhead Grub has become a regular stop for both locals and visitors exploring downtown Sparta.

“Providing great food for my friends and customers is what I love most about the business,” Buckner said.
