Morris Davis Griffith, Sr. was born in McMinnville on Aug. 21, 1939 as the oldest to Johnnie Hobert Griffith and Nora Lee Elrod Griffith. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Julia Griffith Carter; brother, Donald R. Griffith; son, Davy Griffith and niece, Michelle Lei Manning.

Morris retired from years of retail work. Many will remember Morris’s earliest days at Griffith and Warren Hardware located on the Court Square in Downtown McMinnville where he worked along side his father Hobert and brother Don. Morris become a fixture at the hardware with his positive outlook, disposition and smile. He was a believer in being friendly and greeting you with a firm handshake. Morris and his brother Don went on to run Griffith Hardware locally for many years and supported this community in many ways. In later years Morris would go on to work insurance sales and with Tractor Supply Company, Warren Farmers Co-Op. Lastly Morris was with High’s Inc where he was able to maintain friendships and connections with the general public. Although Morris was burden with an ongoing health condition he always maintained a positive outlook on life and enjoyed his many conversation with friends and customers over the years.

Morris is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Scarlett Ann Duggin Griffith. His daughter Julie Ann (Terry) Jones and youngest son Michael D. (Misty) Griffith. His granddaughters, Tabitha, Katrina, Callie and grandson, Peyton as well as great grand-daughters, Jaycee and Adley and great-grandson, Gage. His sister in law Susie Griffith as well as many nieces and nephews and his coffee drinking buddy Herschel Wells, Sr. Morris was blessed with great caregivers including his niece Carla Wood as well as the entire staff at NHC.

Morris Griffith was a member of the Church of Christ, graduated from Central High School, was a founding member of Warren County A & L Fair and served in the Tennessee Army National Guard.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025 in High's Chapel with Gary Childers, John Pelham and Rickey Magness officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Boyd Christian School.
