2026 is here and the White County Warriorettes started the New Year with a dominating win against the Van Buren County Eaglettes.

White County was looking to bounce back after falling in the finals of the Sunshine Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida, and bounce back they did.

The first quarter was really the deciding factor after Van Buren was only able to score five points in the first frame compared to Sparta's twenty. However, if there was any question on if the Eaglettes could make a miraculous comeback, it would be shut down in the third quarter when Sparta jumped out to a 65-30 lead.

In the final quarter of the game, the Warriorettes were able to cruise to an 85-48 win over the team from Spencer. Gracie Clark, unsurprisingly, led Sparta in scoring with 22 points. Right behind her was her senior cohort Bella Winningham who was able to knock in 17 points with nine of those points being made from the three-point line. Lakelyn Grasty had 12 points in the contest after a phenomenal third quarter where she scored eight of her twelve.

Other Warriorettes who don't usually find the scorers' sheet were able to have their name on it Friday. Rhaleigh Cloyd, Addison Dodgen, and Kylie Norvell nailed 3-Pointers while Mia Jo Swindell and Sara Winfree scored two points apiece.

There were three more scorers to round out the scoring sheet for Sparta when Sophomore Kylie Norris scored 7 points while Kyra Fox and Ashlynn Selby scored 9 and 8 points, respectively.

The White County Warriorettes improve to 17-2 on the season and will have a big week starting Monday when they travel to McMinnville to take on a rival in Warren County, then on the Friday they will open up District play with a big game in Baxter against Upperman. If you can't make it to both road games, you can hear the contests on 92.7 YERT FM.
