Friday was Homecoming at White County High School with the Warriorettes hosting the Lady Jets of Cumberland County.

Coach Dodgen told 92.7 YERT that he told his team the goal is to go 2-0 this week and after defeating Stone Memorial on Tuesday they could achieve that goal with a Homecoming win. Also, not only was it a chance for Sparta to improve their district record, but it was also a chance to get their 20th win on the season. The Warriorettes did just that, posting a big 79-58 win Friday night.

It was an action packed first quarter as the squads ended the frame with a 25-20 score in favor of Sparta. The quarter was highlighted by Gracie Clark scoring 9 points with Bella Winningham and Ashlynn Selby putting up 8 points apiece.

Cumberland's star player Sydney Wilhite had 17 points in the first half but only 8 points in the second knocking in 25 on the night. CCHS's Olivia Futrell would pitch in scoring 21 points on the night.

For White County, the wealth was passed around on offense with four Warriorettes scoring in double-digits. The TSSAA Midseason Player of the Year Gracie Clark led White County in scoring with 27 points. Junior Ashlynn Selby was behind her with 18 points while senior Bella Winningham knocked in 18 points. Bella's senior classmate Kyra Fox came out of the contest with 10 points. Two other Warriorettes were able to score with Kylie Norris scoring 5 points while Lakelyn Grasty was able to put in 4 points.

The first quarter would be the closest the Lady Jets would get to the Warriorettes as White County would pull away as the night went on. White County took the win on Homecoming defeating Cumberland County 79-58.

The Warriorettes earned win number 20 on the season, moving to 20-3 on the year and are now 2-1 in district play after starting 0-1. Sparta takes a step outside of district play Tuesday with a trip to Carthage to play Smith County. Tuesday starts a three-game road trip with the next contests at Livingston Academy (Jan. 23) and York Institute (Jan. 26).

If you can't follow Sparta on their road trip, tune in to 92.7 YERT FM for each game.
