McMinnville resident and native Norman Howard Cripps, 88, was born Aug. 17, 1938 and died Oct. 2, 2026 at Willow Branch Healthcare following an extended illness.
A United States Navy veteran, retired assistant manager with Moore’s Building Supply and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Will Howard Cripps and Bernie Lee Simons Cripps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Theresa Hawthorne and brother, William Dwight Cripps.
Mr. Cripps enjoyed spending time at the lake and teaching people to water ski.
Mr. Cripps is survived by daughters, Tina Rene Wilson and Tamera (Zach) Merritt, both of McMinnville, TN; son, Jason (Angela) Cripps of Baxter, TN; grandchildren, 1st Class Petty Officer (Ret.) Kevin (Terri) Green of Ridgecrest, CA, J (Linsey) Wilson of McMinnville, TN, Nicholas Cripps of Alexandria, TN, Richard Cripps of Florence, AL and Emily Cripps of Baxter, TN; great-grandchildren, Avery Green of McMinnville, TN, Hunter Green of Ridgecrest, CA, Briar Cripps of Florence, AL, Eden, Aaron & Ayla Wilson all of McMinnville, TN, and Sloan Youngblood of McMinnville, TN and sister, Peggy Griffith of McMinnville, TN.
Mr. Cripps will be cremated. Graveside service and inurnment will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026 at Mt. View Cemetery in Warren County with Rachel Cantrell to officiate. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at High’s.
Full military honors will be administered by the American Legion Honor Guard.
