One local veteran is encouraging his coworkers to go the extra mile for those who have served.
Caney Fork Electric Cooperative employee and veteran Mike Brown has spearheaded the cooperative's participation in the 50 Mile Ruck March Challenge, benefiting Stop Soldier Suicide.

Beginning Nov. 1, participating employees will work toward completing 50 miles throughout November to raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention and honor military members and their families.
Caney Fork Electric is also inviting fellow utility organizations to join the effort, including a special 10-mile Veterans Day march from McMinnville to Morrison on Nov. 11.
Participants can complete their miles individually or as a team, with weighted backpacks optional.
Those wishing to support the cause can find "Michael's Fundraiser for the 50 Mile Ruck March Challenge for Stop Soldier Suicide" on Facebook.
