Murfreesboro resident and Chattanooga native Robert Anderson Gwynn, 91, was born Aug. 28, 1934 and died Dec. 25, 2025 at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro following an extended illness.

A Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force, retired civilian employee for the Inspector General with the United States Army and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Leonard and Vera Willis Gwyn, Sr. He was married to Barbara Lilian Youell on March 30, 1965 who preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2022. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard Gwyn, Jr. and Thomas Gwyn.

Mr. Gwynn is survived by sister, Mary Fannie Biles of McMinnville; nephew, James "Mickey" (Marion) Gwyn of Murfreesboro and nieces, Cathy (Steve) Officer of Smithville, Mary Wilson of McMinnville, Rose (Roger) Biles of Brentwood, Verdell (Robert) Biles of Murfreesboro and Sharon (Dave) Mills of Henderson, Nev.

Graveside service and interment will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County. No service or visitation will be held at High’s. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.

Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
