Rotary Club of Sparta awards Margaret Pearson Scholarships to two Motlow State students

Submitted by Thomas Turner: The Rotary Club of Sparta continued its commitment to supporting local students and higher education by awarding Margaret Pearson Scholarships to two students attending Motlow State Community College at its Sparta location.

Clayton Hattaway, and Freddie Roberts, each received a $250 scholarship to assist with their educational expenses. Hattaway and Roberts are both pursuing careers that will allow them to serve others. Hattaway's studies in Criminal Justice are preparing him for a career in the justice and public-safety fields, while Roberts is pursuing Nursing and preparing for a career in healthcare.

The scholarships were presented during a recent Rotary Club of Sparta meeting, where representatives of the club gathered with the students to recognize their accomplishments and educational goals. The scholarship honors the legacy of Margaret Pearson, whose service and leadership in the Sparta community continue to inspire efforts to invest in local students. The Rotary Club of Sparta has a long history of supporting education and community initiatives, reflecting Rotary's tradition of Service Above Self. The club's website highlights its continuing involvement in projects benefiting the Sparta and White County community.

A key part of the scholarship nomination process was Thomas Turner, Director of the Motlow-Sparta Site, whose involvement helped bring the students' qualifications and educational aspirations before the Rotary Club President, Mischelle Aycock, Turner serves as director of the Motlow-Sparta Teaching Site. He is also a former Rotarian.

The presentation represents more than a financial award; it is an investment in two local students and in the future of the community. Through partnerships such as this between the Rotary Club of Sparta and Motlow State Community College, local organizations are helping students pursue their education and prepare for meaningful careers close to home.
