A ripple of excitement shot through the local Deadhead community with the announcement The Stolen Faces: Celebrating the music of The Grateful Dead is coming to the Park Theater for a show at 7:30 p.m. May 29.
Fans of the iconic rock band The Grateful Dead will be truckin' to McMinnville's historic theater for a night celebrating the music of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members performed by Nashville-based The Stolen Faces. The band, formed in 2014, is comprised of Christian Grizzard, bass and vocals; Packy Lundholm, guitar and vocals; Jeff Malinowski, guitar, vocals; Matt Martin, drums; and John Wallum, keys, vocals.
The band is a fixture at ACME Feed & Seed in Nashville, performing weekly Grateful Monday shows, and is excited about the trip to McMinnville to share Grateful Dead music with longtime fans of the band as well as newcomers to the sound.
"The band was born from a love of improvisational music and the songwriting of The Grateful Dead," Grizzard said. "We love playing at places that are family friendly. We'll be covering Grateful Dead songs from every era, along with a few deep cuts."
Park Theater management is happy to be able to welcome The Stolen Faces after receiving several requests for a Grateful Dead tribute.
"The Grateful Dead have a far-reaching influence in the world of music, breaking both cultural and genre barriers," Park Theater Manager Joe Harvey said. "This, mixed with their historic liver performances make them a perfect candidate to be celebrated at the Park Theater. We are really excited to have The Stolen Faces bring their expertise in the Dead's catalog to the Park."
Tickets for the show start at $25 plus tax and are available at the Park Theater website, the box office at 115 W. Main St. and at the door before the show. More information about The Stolen Faces can be found at the band's website.
