Autumn Street Fair organizers watching weather

With forecasts calling for rain and thunderstorms this weekend, Autumn Street Fair organizers are monitoring the situation in preparation for Saturday's event presented by Leadership Warren County and the McMinnville-Warren County Chamber of Commerce.

Organizers are paying close attention to the situation and have informed vendors the street fair, scheduled for Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. in downtown McMinnville, is intended to proceed rain-or-shine as scheduled. The weekend's forecasts have already triggered one schedule change as Friday's Warren County High School Pioneers football game in White County has been rescheduled to Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

A statement from street fair organizers sent to those who have paid for a booth space reads, "As we get closer to Saturday, we are closely watching the weather forecast, which is currently calling for a high chance of heavy rain. We want to give everyone a heads-up so you can make the decision that is best for your business and your individual circumstances.

"The Autumn Street Fair is a rain-or-shine event, and at this time, the event will proceed as scheduled. We will continue to monitor the forecast and weather conditions, but unless there is a situation that makes the event unsafe, we will not be cancelling. Because the event will go on as scheduled, vendor fees will not be refunded due to weather. We understand that weather is a difficult factor for outdoor events, and we completely respect that each vendor will need to decide whether they feel comfortable setting up and participating.

"If you do decide to come, we encourage you to plan accordingly for wet conditions and bring whatever you may need to protect your merchandise, displays and equipment. We know this isn't the forecast anyone was hoping for, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that Mother Nature changes her mind. We appreciate your participation in the Autumn Street Fair and hope to see you Saturday. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility."
