Two juveniles in Putnam County have been charged in the creation and distribution of sexually explicit images.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was notified August 31, 2026 of potential distribution of sexually explicit images at Cookeville High School.
The Sheriff’s Office says the juveniles used an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program to create sexually explicit images using photographs obtained from the internet and then distributed those images. Additionally, sexually explicit images that were already stored on one of the juveniles' phones were also distributed.
Both juveniles were taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Juvenile Detention Center.
One juvenile was charged with one count Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one count of Especially Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
The second juvenile was charged with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and two counts of Especially Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
