A multi-vehicle crash on Hwy. 55 Saturday left a vehicle with four occupants on its side in the median, resulting in injuries to the driver.
According to the preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Flora Martin, age 52, was traveling eastbound on 55 through the intersection of Bridgestone Drive. Simultaneously a 2016 Toyota Highlander, driven by 83-year-old Paul Thomas, pulled into the Equinox's path as it exited the BP Market to head eastbound. The ensuing collision reportedly caused the Equinox to roll onto its driver's side and rest in the median of Hwy. 55, while the Highlander also came to rest in the median.
Everyone was reportedly wearing their seatbelts. Although Flora Martin was reportedly injured in the crash, none of her passengers - which were listed as 53-year-old Keith Martin, as well as two female children, ages 4 and 5 - were reportedly hurt.
Thomas, who was traveling alone, was cited for failure to yield. The THP is in charge of the investigation.
