McMinnville resident and Warren County native Wanda June Barnes, 79, was born Aug. 31, 1946 and died Aug. 12, 2026 at her residence following an extended illness.
A retired secretary and member of the Church of Christ, she loved to read, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Iola Killian and Waymon Cagle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Linda Magness.
She was married to Dennis Barnes of McMinnville on Oct. 17, 1964. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Denice Barnes and Tina Smartt (Greg), both of McMinnville and Leeann Barnes Wilmoth (Ronnie) of Baxter; grandchildren, Cody Smartt (Laura), Jared Smartt, Sarah Page (Bray), Kalin Young (Chelsea) and Logan Young (Sera), all of McMinnville and Elijah Wilmoth (Savana) of Baxter; step-grandchildren, Tiffany Wilmoth, Sarah (Whren) Wilmoth, Mindi Wilmoth and Zak Wilmoth, all of Cookeville; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Ryder, Riggs, Corbin, Maisyn, Kelyn, Tommy, Nikki, Gabe, Emma, Sutton, Cali and Walker; sister, Anita Britton of McMinnville and special nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Rickey Magness officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
