It was a rough night at Dee Harris Field in Sparta as the White County Warriorettes welcomed the Blackman Blaze from Murfreesboro.
After three interceptions, with two of those picks being of the pick-six variety, the Blaze would jump out to a 26-0 lead at halftime. The Warriorettes wouldn't be able to make a run on the Blaze in the second half and would fall to Blackman 38-0. Sparta drops to 0-2 on the young season.
Blackman's quarterback Raighan Buchanan would connect with Madison Nettles for six use her running backs Joy Henley, Desyn Brooks, and Adyson Moore to do most of the damage against the Warriorettes.
The White County loss came after they suffered a similar fate last week in their season opener. The Warriorettes fell to the Lady Pioneers from Warren County on Friday by a score of 25-6.
The JV game would also go the Blaze’s way; however, the Warriorettes would find the end zone twice. Blackman went up 7-0 until Sparta freshman Lillianna Parrish would have a rushing touchdown. Then the next possession for Blackman, Parrish would pick off Morales of the Blaze and find herself in the end zone with a pick six of her own.
Sparta's 12-7 lead wouldn't last long as Blackman would go on to score twenty unanswered points to win 27-12.

The Warriorettes’ next game will be at home on Friday, March 13, against Siegel, where they will look to get their offense going and turn their season around. Plans are for 92.7 YERT FM to broadcast the game on the radio and at www.mainstreetmedia.llc/sparta. However, that broadcast is dependent on the White County Warriorettes basketball team. Due to a prior commitment to carry the Warriorettes’ basketball postseason, that coverage will take precedence. If the Warriorettes are competing in the state tournament that day, YERT will instead be broadcasting live from the Glass House in Murfreesboro and will return to gridiron action the following week.
