The White County Warriors were looking to start the New Year with their eleventh win on the season and extend their win streak to eight.
All of that seemed to be in jeopardy after the Van Buren County Eagles, who entered the game with a losing record, jumped out to an 18-8 lead by the end of the first quarter. After the Eagles stretched the lead to as much as twelve, Sparta started to crawl their way back. Tucker Pinion and Lukas Smith led that second quarter rally, scoring 10 and 8 respectively in the first half. Van Buren's lead shrank to two as the first half ended 33-31.
The third quarter was when the Warriors took the lead thanks to a Cole Sims three pointer, and Sparta wouldn't flinch again. White County would cruise to a 70-48 win, avoiding an upset to start 2026.
Sparta's juniors Cole Sims and Tucker Pinion led the scoring, putting up 20 and 19 points, respectively. Lukas Smith was behind them with 13 points while Jack Carpenter scored 9 points and Kolt Norris added 7 points.
The Warriors improve to 11-1 on the season and increase their win streak to nine. Just like their Warriorettes counterparts, Sparta will have a major week on Monday. Coach Mitchell takes his Warriors to McMinnville to take on the team that gave them their only loss back in November. Then on Friday it's a trip to Baxton to take on the defending State Champions in the Upperman Bees.
