The White County Warriors were hoping to snap a losing streak on Homecoming night in Sparta, and it looked like the Warriors would do just that until the Cumberland County Jets made a comeback in the fourth quarter to knock off the Warriors, 57-53.

White County jumped out to a 17-7 lead over CCHS in the second quarter. However, that same quarter would end with Sparta only leading 20-19 after Sol and Shaffer Sitton, along with Andrew Dennis, would hit five 3-pointers between them.

The momentum would go back to White County in the third quarter though after junior Tucker Pinion hit four 3-pointers to give the Warriors a 38-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth frame would belong to Cumberland's Rhys Davenport as he scored 12 points in the final quarter to lead the Jets' comeback.

The Warriors have now lost four out of their last five and are on a three-game losing streak. Their overall record sits at 12-5, but more importantly they remain winless in district play with their district record sitting at 0-3.

Tucker Pinion would have a great night offensively despite the loss scoring 27 points. 2025 Mr. Basketball for White County, Lukas Smith was behind Pinion in scoring with 10 points. Cole Sims would be able to score six points, while Mason Steele knocked in four points. Jack Carpenter and Griffin Adams would round out the scoring with two points apiece.

Sparta will step outside district play Tuesday against Smith County on the road. Tuesday starts a three-game road trip with a district road game at Livingston Academy on the 23rd, then another non-district game against York on the 26th. If you aren't able to follow the Warriors on the road, you can hear all the action on 92.7 YERT FM.
