White County Schools is adding three new propane-powered buses thanks to a grant that transportation officials say will save money, reduce emissions and provide a quieter ride for drivers and students.
White County Schools is continuing to modernize its transportation fleet after receiving a grant from East Tennessee Clean Fuels that will fund three new propane-powered school buses, replacing three aging diesel buses.
The grant, made possible through East Tennessee Clean Fuels in partnership with Blue Bird, was presented to White County Schools Maintenance and Transportation Director Randy Alley. Alley, who has led the department for the past 10 years, said the funding allows the district to continue transitioning to a fleet that is less expensive to operate while providing a better experience for drivers and students.
