The White County Warriorette flag football team took the field on a warm Tuesday evening in Sparta as they hosted the Coffee County Red Raiders. The Warriorettes were looking to earn just their second win of the season after a 1-6 start.

Sparta was on a good path to that second victory after ending the first half with a 19-0 lead over the team from Manchester. The third quarter would be where the Red Raiders would start their rally. Coffee County would keep that rally going into the final frame and would score the go-ahead down with seven seconds left, their first time taking the lead in the game.

White County drops their seventh game of the season in tough fashion losing 33-32 to the visitors from middle Tennessee.

Although it goes down as a loss, Warriorette sophomore quarterback Sarah Winfree left it all out on the field. The star athlete scored four touchdowns in three different ways. The field general scored on one rushing touchdown, one receiving touchdown, and two passing touchdowns. Allibeth Stebing threw one of those touchdowns to Winfree and also received a six pointer from the QB herself. The other receiver to catch a touchdown pass Tuesday night was senior Addy Cocke.

The night wasn't a total wash however; the Warriorette JV team picked up a shut-out win blanking CCCHS's JV team 6-0.

Sparta falls to 1-7 on the Varsity side and will hope to find the win column Thursday with a trip to Silverdale Academy. Their next home game will be Friday night as they host Lavergne. Radio coverage will be heard for Friday's game on 92.7 YERT FM.
