The Algood Redskins completed the series sweep Thursday night with a 9-2 victory over the White County Middle School Warriors. After dropping the first game of the away-home series on Tuesday, the Warriors were unable to even the score in the rematch.

White County showed early promise, answering Algood’s first-inning run with one of their own. Noah Teeple reached base on a walk and worked his way around the bases before tagging up and sprinting home on a fly ball to center field off the bat of Jack Dicus.

The score remained tied at 1-1 through the second inning before the Redskins broke the game open in the top of the third, pushing four runs across the plate to take control. The Warriors managed to answer with a run in the bottom half of the inning when Teeple crossed the plate again, this time scoring on a double by Cayden Boswell.

That would be the extent of White County’s scoring on the night. Algood added three more runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth to secure the win.

Tate Pinion took the loss on the mound for the Warriors. The eighth grader allowed five runs, four of them earned, on two hits and five walks over two innings of work. Carson Burton followed, throwing 52 pitches across two innings while giving up three unearned runs on one hit and four walks. Owen Clouse closed out the game, allowing one run on one hit and two walks.

At the plate, Teeple and Boswell each recorded a hit for White County, while Ryder Staggs and Haskell Simmons also collected hits.

The Warriors are finished for the week but will return to action next week with another away-home series against the DeKalb West Bulldogs on Monday and Tuesday.
