People often joke that everything shuts down for the Warren County A&L Fair, but that exaggeration is not without some basis in fact.

While the fair has a huge economic impact on Warren County whether it be from carnival crews purchasing gas locally or fair food booths buying supplies from local stores, the crowds drawn by the largest free fair in Tennessee often means fewer customers for other places of business. For this reason, many local entrepreneurs choose to use the week for some well-deserved time off. The fair begins Friday, Sept. 11 and runs through Saturday, Sept. 19.

Earlier this week, the Main Street Journal put out a call for businesses to share their fair-modified schedules. Here is the additional information we compiled:

  • J's Restaurant in Three Star Mall will close Friday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. and will reopen Monday, Sept. 21.
  • Three Star Cinema will be open this weekend, Sept. 11-13 and will be closed the remainder of fair week. The theater will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 22.
  • Custom Vinyl Signs and Shirts will close at noon Friday, Sept. 11 and will be closed Monday, Sept. 14 - Friday, Sept. 18.
  • Barren Fork Brews will be closed Friday, Sept. 11 - Sunday, Sept. 13, open Monday, Sept. 14 - Thursday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and closed Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19.
  • Lemon will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 15 - Saturday, Sept. 19.
  • Cookies By Brax's downtown location will be closed Friday, Sept. 11 and the following week but will have a booth at the fair near the petting zoo.
  • Pioneer Lanes will be closed Friday, Sept. 11 through Wednesday, Sept. 23.
  • Begonia's will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3–9 p.m. for pizza orders only. The restaurant returns to regular hours and its full menu Friday, Sept. 18.
  • Blue Bow Boutique will be closed Friday, Sept. 18.
  • Hot Wheels Skate Center is closed and will reopen Friday, Sept. 25.
