Two White County commissioners resigned from the beer board after a key vote failed — leaving the board unable to function and decisions on hold.
White County’s beer board is effectively shut down after two commissioners resigned Monday night in protest of a failed vote they supported.
Commissioners T.K. Austin and Becky Golden both stepped down immediately following the vote, leaving the three-member board with only one remaining member — not enough to legally conduct business.
“I would like to publicly announce that I am resigning from the beer board,” Austin said. “I’m not going to be a part of it.”
“Make that two, I resign as well,” Golden added. “I’m very disappointed, I’m just going to say that. I am very, very disappointed tonight.”
