Bluegrass fans can start pickin’ their tickets and grinnin’ in anticipation as the Park Theater has announced the lineup for its second annual Bluegrass Series.
Following a successful debut which brought some of the biggest names in bluegrass to the Park stage, this year's lineup features another outstanding group of established crowd-pleasers.
The series kicks off Saturday, Jan. 16 with The Grascals and continues with Yonder Mountain String Band on Thursday, Feb. 4, Pitney Meyer on Friday, April 2 and concludes with East Nash Grass Thursday, April 29.
"We held the inaugural Bluegrass Series last year and it went well," Park Theater Manager Joe Harvey said during a Friday-morning appearance on The Justin Reed Show on 105.3 WOW Country. "This year we wanted to repeat it, and we've added an extra show. We think it's going to be great."
The Grascals were formed in Nashville in 2024 as a band built on friendship, shared roots and a common vision to create bluegrass music that honors tradition while forging its own identity. Within months of the band's birth, the group was selected by Dolly Parton to be her opening act and on-tour backing band.
Currently comprised of Jamie Harper, Terry Smith, Kristin Scott Benson, John Bryan, Jamie Johnson and Danny Roberts, The Grascals have three Grammy nominations, a GMA Dove award, 15 International Bluegrass Music Association awards and numerous other accolades to their credit. In addition to Dolly, the group has recorded and toured with Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., George Jones, The Oak Ridge Boys, Patty Loveless, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley, Joe Nichols, Steve Wariner, The Jordanaires, Tom T. Hall and many more. They have also appeared as guest performers on the Grand Ole Opry over 200 times. Benson is no stranger to the Park Theater, having performed with Balsam Range during the inaugural Bluegrass Series.
Yonder Mountain String Band consists of Dave Johnston, Ben Kaufmann, Adam Aijala, Nick Piccininni and Coleman Smith. The Grammy-nominated band was formed in 1998 in Colorado and is renowned for its progressive bluegrass sound. The band's most recent release, "Good as True," is its 12th studio album.
Pitney Meyer is the product of a friendship between Mo Pitney and John Meyer and their mutual love of traditional bluegrass music. Pitney Meyer, along with Serve Productions, built an analog recording studio inside a log cabin built in 1837 and formerly owned by Johnny Cash in Bon Aqua, Tenn. The Nashville-based duo was formed in 2023 and released its debut album "Cherokee Pioneer" on April 18, 2025. Pitney may be familiar to frequent Park Theater visitors from his appearance at the second annual Dottie West Celebration in 2024.
East Nash Grass took the bluegrass world by storm, taking the 2024 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Best New Artist award. The group earned an IBMA Entertainer of the Year nomination the following year while Maddie Denton took the 2025 Fiddler of the Year award. She is joined by acclaimed banjo player Cory Walker and 2022 IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year Harry Clark. The group has previously performed as part of the Ryman Auditorium's Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman.
