McMinnville Community
In a continuing effort to ensure the safety of the community's youngest passengers as well as strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the community, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is holding a car seat safety check at the Driver’s License Testing Center Monday, Oct. 12.
The event is held in conjunction with the National Faith & Blue initiative, an effort to improve police-community relations through activities that are organized jointly by faith-based or other community groups and law enforcement agencies. Members of the McMinnville-Warren County Child Passenger Seat Coalition comprised of representatives from the McMinnville Police Department, McMinnville Fire Department, the Warren County Sheriff's Office, Warren County Health Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be on hand to educate parents and caregivers on proper vehicle safety for their children as well as give out free car seats as needed.
"We have booster seats, forward- and rear-facing car seats, and infant seats provided by Reddick Brown Ford and Dolly Parton Children's Hospital," McMinnville Police Department Officer Mark Mara said. "We are excited to be invited to help hold the event the Tennessee Highway Patrol has set up. We invite all parents and caregivers to come out and help reduce crashes with injuries involving young children."
The event is free to the public and will be held at 594 Vervilla Rd. from 4 - 6 p.m.
