The stretch from Dec. 15-18 offered one of the clearest snapshots yet of what the Warren County 6-8 grade boys basketball season is becoming. At the top, contenders continued to separate themselves through decisive runs and late-game composure. In the middle, teams traded punches in physical, possession-by-possession battles that swung on a single bucket or stop. And at the bottom of the standings, progress showed itself not in wins alone, but in competitiveness, belief and stretches of basketball that demanded respect.

Third quarters proved especially telling. Dibrell turned a tight first half into a runaway with a scoring avalanche, Centertown overwhelmed Boyd with pace and depth, and Morrison had to withstand a furious Irving College rally that threatened to flip the standings. Boyd’s breakthrough win served as a reminder of how thin the margins have been all season, while Eastside and Irving College both showed that no opponent can afford to relax for even a few possessions.

As the calendar moves deeper into December, these games are beginning to carry more weight. The separation at the top is real, but far from settled, and the fight underneath is tightening by the night. These Players of the Week reflect the athletes who delivered in those defining moments - whether through scoring bursts, defensive grit or the kind of poise that turns close games into wins.

The 6-8 grade boys Players of the Week are presented by Kevin Rhoton at SouthPoint Risk, Cole Taylor Lawn Care, M&M Farms, McCorkle Landscaping and Crisp Springs Fireworks.

BOYD – JUSTIN SPRY

Spry’s 32-point outburst against Irving College powered Boyd to its first county win of the season and marked one of the most complete performances by any player this year. He scored at all three levels, lived at the free-throw line late and sealed the win with poise in the fourth quarter. A defining night for both player and program.

CENTERTOWN – RAWLEY GILISPIE

Gilispie was a key spark in Centertown’s dominant win over Boyd, knocking down timely shots and helping fuel the Warriors’ opening barrage that put the game out of reach early. He finished with seven points, but his activity, spacing and defensive pressure were instrumental in a game where Centertown’s depth overwhelmed the Broncos.

DIBRELL – COLBY WOMACK

Womack delivered steady production during Dibrell’s win over Eastside, scoring seven points and helping stabilize the Wildcats during the quieter first half before the third-quarter surge. His ability to contribute offensively while doing the small things defensively continues to be vital for a Dibrell team built on balance.

EASTSIDE – HAYDEN MULLICAN

Mullican battled in the paint against Dibrell, scoring six points while taking on one of the league’s most physical frontcourts. His toughness, rebounding and willingness to contest everything inside continue to anchor Eastside’s interior presence.

IRVING COLLEGE – BROOKS FANN

Fann was a driving force behind Irving College’s late rally against Morrison, scoring 10 points during a stretch where the Tigers erased a double-digit deficit and briefly took the lead. His energy and finishing in traffic gave the Tigers a jolt in one of their strongest efforts of the season.

MORRISON – BRANTLEY UNDERWOOD

Underwood came up huge late in Morrison’s tight win over Irving College, hitting a clutch baseline jumper in the final minute to help the Eagles regain control. He finished with six points, but his timely scoring and composure under pressure proved decisive in another one-possession victory.
