The Warren County 6–8 grade girls basketball league closed out the week before Christmas break with another stretch that highlighted just how deep and competitive county play has become. From Centertown’s continued dominance at the top to tight defensive battles and late-game execution elsewhere, the league again delivered a mix of statement wins and gritty performances.

Centertown remained unbeaten with convincing wins over Eastside and Boyd, Irving College continued to prove its poise in close games, Dibrell finally broke through in a low-scoring slugfest and Morrison stayed competitive against one of the league’s toughest schedules. Across the board, players stepped into bigger roles, made winning plays and helped define where their teams sit as the season heads toward the midpoint.

The Main Street Journal is proud to recognize the standout performers from Dec. 15–18 with our Girls Players of the Week, made possible thanks to Triple B Nursery, Crisp Springs Market, Prince HVAC, TEH Construction, Pioneer Lanes and Sara Collins with Tree City Realty.

BOYD – MAGGIE PANTER

Panter gave Boyd a steady lift in a tough matchup with Irving College, scoring four points and providing strong defensive effort as the Lady Broncos stayed within striking distance into the final minutes. Her energy and willingness to battle against one of the league’s top teams helped Boyd remain competitive throughout the night.

CENTERTOWN – LYVIA WILSON

Wilson delivered another strong, steady week for the unbeaten Lady Warriors, contributing on both ends as Centertown continued to roll through county play. She scored against Boyd and Eastside, defended aggressively in the halfcourt and helped fuel the depth and balance that separates the Lady Warriors from the rest of the league. Her consistency and versatility continue to make her a valuable piece of Centertown’s championship-caliber rotation.

DIBRELL – AVERY McCORMACK

McCormack was a steady force for the Lady Wildcats, scoring in both games and helping anchor Dibrell during a week that included a much-needed win over Eastside. She added two points in the defensive battle and remained aggressive on both ends, helping Dibrell turn the corner heading into the break.

EASTSIDE – ELAH COLE

Cole continued to be a steady presence for the Lady Bulldogs during a challenging week, scoring in the defensive battle with Dibrell and remaining aggressive against constant pressure. She competed on both ends of the floor, attacked when openings appeared and helped keep Eastside within reach deep into low-scoring games. Her effort and toughness stood out as the Lady Bulldogs continue to build toward a breakthrough.

IRVING COLLEGE – MACIE PEPPER

Pepper continued to be a reliable contributor for the Lady Tigers, scoring in both wins and providing steady minutes as Irving College went 2-0 on the week. Her movement without the ball and defensive effort helped the Lady Tigers maintain balance alongside their top scorers.

MORRISON – AVERY BRYANT

Bryant delivered important minutes during a challenging week, contributing three points in Morrison’s tight loss to Irving College and helping defensively against Dibrell. Her activity and willingness to do the little things helped keep the Lady Eagles competitive throughout the week.
