Crossville Firefighter Jade Callister Honored by Council for Legislative Advocacy Protecting First Responders

The Crossville City Council opened its September session with a special presentation honoring Crossville Firefighter and Advanced EMT Jade Callister for turning a traumatic on-duty assault into statewide legislative reform.

Callister’s was assaulted while responding to an emergency call in 2025. She worked alongside Crossville fire leadership, local emergency agencies, and state lawmakers to champion Senate Bill 1900, a newly enacted Tennessee law that significantly elevates criminal penalties and strengthens legal protections for first responders assaulted in the line of duty.
