McMinnville resident and Flint, Mich. native Dale Harold Carter, 81, was born Oct. 25, 1944 and passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2026 at his residence following a sudden illness.
He spent 28 years driving big rigs across the country. He enjoyed hunting with his son Tim, shooting bows, and country music. He was the son of the late Elsie Mildred Stein and Lloyd Francis Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Bernadine Carter.
He was married to the love of his life Doris M. Carter of McMinnville on June 23, 1975. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Timothy Carter of Burton, Michigan; children, Robin Sephers of Cookeville, Edward Long of Springfield, Mo., William Long of Naples, Fla., Joseph Long of Berkley, Mich., Darrin Long of Athens, Roxanne Patterson of McMinnville; 31 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Dean Thatcher of Michigan.
Per his wishes, Mr. Carter will be cremated.
