What started more than two decades ago as a small Sparta pawn shop has quietly evolved into something much larger at its location on Mayberry Street — offering everything from emergency loans and hard-to-find retail items to shipping services and state licensing. Now, another addition is on the way that will soon make Freedom Pawn one of the only places in Sparta offering a service many residents currently have to leave town to access.
Behind the counters and display cases at 49 Mayberry St., the business has also undergone a major transformation since changing ownership in 2022, reshaping both the store itself and the way it serves customers throughout the Upper Cumberland.
