It was another week to remember in the 3–5 grade elementary boys basketball league. Boyd and Bobby Ray continued to set the pace in District 1 with convincing wins, while Hickory Creek and Dibrell picked up statement victories that could shape the postseason race. Centertown found its rhythm with a strong showing against Morrison, and West pulled off one of the season’s most dramatic comebacks - a thrilling one-point win over the Eagles that brought fans to their feet.

Week by week, the level of play has continued to rise across the county. Every team has stars emerging and young players stepping up to make big contributions, setting the stage for an exciting final month before tournament time.

Each Saturday, the Main Street Journal will spotlight a Player of the Week from every team, celebrating the kids who stood out on the hardwood and pushed their squads forward.

Jayden Terry – Bobby Ray Stars

Terry was the spark the Stars needed in a dominant 36–12 victory over Eastside. The young guard led the team with 10 points, showing speed, confidence, and control on both ends of the court. His hustle continues to be contagious for a Bobby Ray team on the rise.

Ryder Reed– Boyd Broncos

When it comes to scoring in the elementary league, Ryder Reed is in a league of his own. Reed continues to score in waves, putting up another huge effort Monday in a win over Irving College. He saved his best scoring output of the season for a non-county game Tuesday, dropping 40 points in a win over Legacy Athletics from Murfreesboro.

Easton McCormack – Centertown Warriors

Centertown’s offense clicked behind McCormack’s breakout performance Thursday. The quick guard poured in a season-high 13 points in a 29–16 win over Morrison, leading the Warriors with poise and precision in one of the team’s most complete games of the year.

Ryder Blair – Dibrell Wildcats

Blair continued to showcase his ability to control tempo and make plays in big moments. He scored seven points in a 30–27 win over Hickory Creek and orchestrated the offense with the calm and confidence of a seasoned leader.

Cain Rodriguez – Eastside Bulldogs

Rodriguez provided a bright spot for Eastside this week with his relentless effort and scoring touch. Even against one of the league’s top defenses in Bobby Ray, he fought to the final whistle and continues to set the tone for the Bulldogs’ young roster.

Drew Templeton – Hickory Creek Hawks

Templeton turned in one of the best single-game performances of the year, scoring 16 points in a 27–16 win over West. His mix of shooting and driving ability powered Hickory Creek to another strong showing in District 1 play.

Weston Walker – Irving College Tigers

Walker had a big moment for the Irving College Tigers this week, getting into the scoring column in their battle with Boyd. The Tigers are looking to build up their team in a rebuilding year and Walker and his buddies are flying up and down the court looking to make waves by tourney time.

James Starkey – Morrison Eagles

Starkey has quietly become one of the most consistent players in the league. He scores and anchors the Morrison defense each game, giving the Eagles leadership and stability every time he steps on the court.

Camden Chadwell – West Wizards

Chadwell’s clutch play was the difference in West’s thrilling 20–19 comeback win over Morrison. He scored key baskets in the final two minutes and helped the Wizards seal one of the season’s most dramatic victories.

Thursday night around Warren County gyms felt like a preview of postseason intensity. The 3-5 grade boys league has officially hit its stride, and several teams made strong statements in the final games before the schedule turns toward its home stretch. Centertown’s offense clicked, Hickory Creek continued its hot streak and Bobby Ray’s depth once again overwhelmed its opponent as the boys league keeps tightening at the top.

Centertown’s 29-16 victory over Morrison might have been the most complete performance of the week. Coach Kim Woods’ Warriors controlled the game from the opening tip, moving the ball with confidence and attacking the paint behind Easton McCormack, who poured in 13 points. Greyson Eubanks added 10 and the defense clamped down when it mattered, holding the Eagles to single-digit scoring in every quarter. Centertown’s balanced play pushed them closer to the top of the District 2 standings and showed that the Warriors can contend with anyone when they’re locked in.

Hickory Creek’s 27-16 win over West was another display of power and poise. The Hawks got 16 points from Drew Templeton, whose smooth mid-range jumpers and ability to finish through contact set the tone. Judah Swallows and Branch Conley kept the ball moving and the defensive pressure high, holding Camden Chadwell and the Wizards in check for most of the night. The Hawks, now firmly entrenched in the District 1 race, continue to show why they’ve become one of the most complete teams in the league.

In town, Bobby Ray turned in one of its most dominant offensive outings of the year with a 38-15 win over Irving College. The Stars showcased remarkable depth - nine players found the scoring column - led by Asher Jones, Braylen Locke and Michael Simmons with six points apiece. The Stars’ unselfish ball movement and relentless transition pace left the Tigers scrambling from the start. For Irving College, Behr Britton and Gannon Powers combined for nine points as the Tigers continue to find flashes of promise in a rebuilding season.

Dibrell also added another win, taking down Eastside on its home floor. While the school did not report a final score, the victory kept the Wildcats squarely in contention in District 2 play.

With only a few weeks left in the regular season, it’s clear the race for both district titles is tightening and every game from here on out could swing the standings.
