Florence Elaine Slatton, 94

McMinnville resident and Indianapolis, Ind. native Florence Elaine Slatton, 94, was born Aug. 28, 2026 and died Oct. 28, 2026 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following a sudden illness.

A retired nurse and member of Westwood Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Chester and Bernice Haywood Dunbar. She was married to J.C. Slatton, Jr. on Jan. 16, 1954 who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Garland Kent Dunbar and Robert Lee Dunbar.

Mrs. Slatton is survived by son and daughter-in-law, J.C. “Jay” and Elbia Slatton, III of McMinnville; grandchildren, Olivia Ann Slatton, Valeria (Kyle) Sanginario and Lauren Paige Slatton; sister, Judith Ann Estell of Bradenton, Fla.; brother, Frank Harrison Dunbar of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister-in-law, Kay Dunbar and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026 at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. No service or visitation will be held at High’s. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
