Good Friday was a great Friday for nearly 350 attendees at the Park Theater for a concert by The Players.

The rock supergroup comprised of former members of Chicago, The Doobie Brothers and The Peter Frampton band as well as a talented horn line entertained a large crowd with a selection of hits from their former bands as well as covers from some of their musical contemporaries.

Keith Howland and Jeff Coffey of Chicago, along with Rob Arthur of the Peter Frampton band and Ed Toth from The Doobie Brothers started the show off with “Make Me Smile,” threw in more hits like “Saturday in the Park” and finished off a rocking first set with REO Speedwagon’s “Roll With the Changes” before a short intermission.

The Players retook the stage with “Old Days” and wrapped up with “Shining Star” and “25 or 6 to 4.”

The emcee for the evening was Rob Nunley from the Main Street Journal and co-host of WBMC’s ”Town Talk with Raven and Rob.”

Rob Nunley warmed up the crowd before bringing The Players to the stage.

“We were very pleased with the turnout for The Players,” Park Theater Assistant Manager Ashley Gillentine Wright said. “We had lots of first-time visitors to the theater, and that’s always great to see. We hope everybody comes back next week for gospel legend Terry Blackwood and The Imperials Friday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m.”
